October 24, 25, 29, 30 -- Ghost Tours of “Manhattan’s Most Haunted House”
Tours begin every 30 minutes from 6-10 p.m.
Hear the stories, see the proof, and decide for yourself. Come see the historic house The New York Times called “Manhattan’s Most Haunted”; the rooms will be lit by flickering candles as you listen to eerie stories collected over the years and learn the startling results of a recent paranormal investigation. $25, $13 Members. Friday, October 31, 7 & 9 p.m. -- Spine Tingling & True:
Official Merchant’s House ghost-storyteller, Anthony Bellov, will recount highlights from his ongoing research into the strange and supernatural occurrences at the Merchant’s House Museum. If that weren’t creepy enough, the Museum’s parlors (where the event takes place) will be arranged for a 19th-century funeral. $20, $15 Students & Seniors, $10 Members.

October 29th, 30th and 31st -- An Evening with Poe -- Two shows each evening at 6:15 and 8 PM

Gather in the shadows of the Museum’s candlelit Upper Hall this Halloween for a reading from the letters and tales of Edgar Allan Poe. Acclaimed Poe reenactor Kevin Mitchell Martin’s one-man play based on the life and writings of Poe portrays the author’s real life tragedy, but also the joy and pride that he took in his work. Appropriate for children over 10 years of age. Halloween treats included. $18, $15 members.

New York's Village Halloween Parade -- Friday October 31st at 7 PM

Come in Costume and join puppets, bands, dancers, artists, and other New Yorkers in costumes. Described as the Nation’s Most Wildly Creative Public Participatory Event in the Greatest City in the World, here's how to participate: Line-Up ! Friday, October 31st -- Tricks and Treats at Le Carrousel in Bryant Park

From 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. -- Come in your favorite costume - ghost or goblin, pirate or princess - for all the fun at Le Carrousel’s Halloween Party in Bryant Park. Pumpkin painting, scary stories, carousel rides, and magic galore by Arnie Kolodner. Special Le Carrousel Halloween Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. In case of rain, the event is canceled.

South Street Seaport Museum -- November 1st and 2nd

Saturday, November 1st -- Hudson River Park's Pier of Fear

From 12:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. Hudson River Park’s Pier of Fear is back for the 10th year. Get your pulse pounding at one of Manhattan’s largest free haunted houses. The Maze of Horror includes a guided tour through eerie hallways and creepy rooms. As night falls, the maze becomes even spookier for adults and older children. For the faint of heart, The Striking Viking Story Pirates will perform a Halloween themed improv show for adults and children of all ages at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on both days.

The Pier of Fear also features $2 attractions including: face painting, mask decorating, wax hands, cotton candy, rides, and more fun that will keep you in the Halloween spirit. Please be advised that although Maze of Horror tickets are free, they are limited and wait times may vary. Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and time slots fill up quickly.

It's Magic at New-York Historical Society -- October 30th

George Schindler performs some of his most celebrated illusions, followed by a close-up magic reception. Thursday, October 30th, 6:30 p.m. at the New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West at 77th Street. Each October for over 40 years, the Society of American Magicians has celebrated “National Magic Week” to honor the memory of Harry Houdini, who died on Halloween in 1926. Enjoy amazing feats of magic with George Schindler, the Dean of the Society of American Magicians, including his hilarious “Champagne Bubbles” illusion, passing champagne through the body of an audience volunteer; the “Chopper,” which brings danger and comedy to two volunteers; and meet “Cecil” the talking rabbit. The Halloween “Boos Cruise” on October 31st

Board the Circle Line Downtown Halloween Cruise for surprises, giveaways and a fun costume contest. The 2½ hour Halloween Cruise on the ZEPHYR, a 143-ft luxury yacht, will tour the New York harbor. Board at 9pm, sail at 9.30pm and returns dockside at midnight. Tickets are $47 in advance (price includes a complimentary drink), and $50 at the door for guests 21 and over. (circlelinedowntown.com)

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens -- Ghouls and Gourds Sunday October 26th from Noon to 6 p.m.

This family events features performances by renowned groups like the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, Bash the Trash, and John Carlin and the Kids Music Underground. There will be a special area for a batty book fair, featuring 16 top children’s book authors and illustrators who will enchant families with readings and book signings. The afternoon culminates in a Halloween costume parade for visiting ghouls and goblins of all ages, who march to the beat of Brazilian percussion group Maracatu NY, carry an assortment of larger-than-life puppets, or just show off their own costumes for all to see! Ghouls and Gourds event activities are free with Garden admission and take place rain or shine on Cherry Esplanade.
